How to Switch from Intercom in 10 Minutes

If you have decided to move off Intercom, the migration is simpler than you might expect. There is no complex data export, no bot rebuild, and no downtime. This guide walks you through the exact steps to go from Intercom to having AI chatbot, text, audio, and video chat live on your website — in under 10 minutes.

Before you start: Keep Intercom running in parallel until you verify Biz AI Last is live and working correctly. You can remove the Intercom snippet after you confirm everything is operational — usually on the same day.

Start Your Free Trial

Let the AI Train on Your Content

Unlike Intercom's Fin AI — which requires you to manually add content to their help centre — Biz AI Last automatically crawls your website and trains the chatbot on your pages, FAQs, product descriptions, and pricing information.

This happens in the background after signup. By the time you log in to your dashboard, the AI is already customised for your business.

Paste One Line of Code

From your dashboard, copy the widget script. It looks like this:

Paste it just before the closing </body> tag in your website's HTML. If you use WordPress, paste it into your theme's footer or use a "Header/Footer Code" plugin. If you use Shopify, paste it into theme.liquid.

That's it. The widget is now live. Visit your website and you'll see the chat button appear in the corner.

Test All Four Channels

Open your website in a browser and test each channel:

  • AI chatbot — Ask a question about your product. The AI should answer accurately using your website content.
  • Live text chat — Log in to your Biz AI Last agent dashboard and verify a test chat message comes through.
  • Audio call — Click the audio button in the widget and confirm call quality in the agent view.
  • Video chat — Initiate a video session to confirm camera and mic permissions work correctly.

Time: 2–3 minutes.

Remove Intercom and Cancel

Once you're satisfied everything works, remove the Intercom script from your website (simply delete the Intercom snippet from your site's code or CMS). Then log in to Intercom and cancel your subscription.

Because Intercom requires 30 days notice for most plans, do this as soon as your new setup is confirmed to avoid paying for an extra month.

Time: 2 minutes to remove, 5 minutes to cancel Intercom.

What You Don't Need to Migrate

  • Conversation history — Past chat logs from Intercom are stored in Intercom's system. You can export them as a CSV from Intercom's settings if you need them for auditing, but they are not required for Biz AI Last to function.
  • Custom bots — Biz AI Last's AI is trained automatically on your website. You do not need to rebuild conversation flows or decision trees.
  • Team inbox configuration — Biz AI Last has a simpler team inbox that is ready out of the box.
